How Age is Calculated (Chronological Method)

Age calculation follows standard calendar rules, keeping in mind variable month lengths (28, 30, or 31 days) and leap years:

• Borrowing Days: If the target day is less than the birth day, we borrow 1 month's worth of days from the previous month of the target date.
• Borrowing Months: If the target month is less than the birth month, we borrow 1 year (12 months) to complete the subtraction.

Age Calculation Example

If a person was born on May 15, 1995, and we want to find their age on April 10, 2024:

• Days calculation: 10 days - 15 days (needs borrow). Borrow 1 month from April (31 days of March). Target days = 41. 41 - 15 = 26 days.
• Months calculation: 3 remaining months - 5 months (needs borrow). Borrow 1 year from 2024. Target months = 15. 15 - 5 = 10 months.
• Years calculation: 2023 remaining years - 1995 = 28 years.
• Final Age: 28 years, 10 months, and 26 days.
